Sherborne Castle Country Fair

Held in the grounds of Sherborne Castle in Dorset, this lovely lakeside event highlights traditional rural skills, as well as those more modern.

The Sherborne Castle Country Fair has a varied and fun programme of events, country activities, stands and entertainment including one of the largest Rare Breed Shows in the country.

For one day each year, one of the finest settings, with its spectacular grounds and lake surrounding Sherborne Castle, is transformed into a fun-packed Country Fair with attractions, entertainment and activities for all the family.

The Fair offers a wonderful opportunity to meet and learn a little more about a wide variety of our native rare and traditional breeds of domestic farm livestock.

Watch all of the excitement of the Dragon Boat racing; each crew is composed of a drummer and 16 paddlers who race in Chinese-style Dragon Boats over the 250 metre course.

Every year visitors enjoy a selection of over 250 high quality craft, trade and food stands. Visit the Craft Courtyard, a delightful area in which to watch demonstrations and find something that little bit special. Here you will find good quality, hand-made crafts, all made locally by the exhibitors at the Fair and not mass-produced.

There are Rural Craft displays and demonstrations giving visitors an opportunity to discover more about all sorts of rural activities – weave, ‘hurdle and turn’, carve sticks or lay a hedge. The Food Court has always, and continues, to offer local gourmet delights for every taste from a range of artisan food producers.

Dog events include a Companion Dog Show, Agility Display, Terrier Racing, Gun Dog Scurries, Retriever and Spaniel Team Challenges, and Gundog Arena.

There is also a wide variety of food stands throughout the showground to suit all tastes and appetites.

The fair starts at 9am until 5pm and we look forward to welcoming you for a great day out with your family.
